Mia Evans

General Manager,
Private Banking

Mia Evans has over 30 years of experience in banking, holding private bank positions at HSBC, Bank of New Zealand and Westpac Bank prior to joining Bancorp in 2007.

As General Manager of Bancorp Wealth Management, Mia and her team focus on the New Zealand market, offering international clients the access to private banking, including immigration-qualifying investments, family office, direct investments and asset investment opportunities and funds. Clients also have access to Bancorp’s corporate finance, treasury advisory and asset management services.

Mia leads a bilingual team, each with more than 20 years’ experience in their specialist areas. Mia was honoured to be the first woman elected to the Vice Chair position at the Japan New Zealand Business Council (formed in 1974). In this role, she looks to support Council aims of developing long-term economic and trade relations with Japan and deepening the mutual understanding essential to the expansion of trade between our two countries.

An honorary member of ‘Support our Kids’, Mia works alongside this non-profit organisation to help children who have been orphaned or displaced in wake of the earthquake off Japan’s North Eastern seaboard on March 11, 2011. Mia looks after the New Zealand programme alongside Ian Kennedy (former NZ Ambassador to Japan) working to facilitate school and support partnerships, sponsorship and acts as the media liaison point.

Ken Ikeguchi

Senior Relationship Manager

Ken has had over 20 years in the banking industry in Japan and New Zealand.   In Japan he worked for Credit Suisse Life & Pension, Tokyo Star Bank and Lloyds TSB Bank.  In 2013 he immigrated to New Zealand with his family.  He then joined ANZ Bank where he worked in the Asian Banking Team as a Personal Banker before joining the Bancorp group.

He started with Bancorp Wealth Management limited as a marketing and relationship Coordinator before being promoted to Senior Relationship Manager.

Ken manages a portfolio of Japanese clients both in Japan as well as New Zealand and helps them with investment opportunities.

Nathan Nong

Investment Director – Private Banking

Nathan has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry. His roles have covered different areas of the banking industry including personal banking, migrant banking, credit analyst and corporate finance analyst role within 3 major international banks. Over the last 5 years his focus has been on individual private clients, where he provided tailored financial solutions for these clients .

Born in Southern China, Nathan came to New Zealand to pursue tertiary education more than 2 decades ago. Nathan has a Master of Business Management majoring in Banking from Massey University. He also holds the National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice ) (Level 5 investment strand ) He is a fluent speaker in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.

Marina Yasuyama

Marina joined Bancorp in 2023. In 2018, she immigrated to New Zealand where she worked in hospitality for 5 years.

Marina holds a Bachelor of English from KGU (Kansai Gaidai University) and has 5 years experience of customer service and administrative duty in Japan before coming to New Zealand. 

Marina supports Bancorp’s Japanese clients.
