Craig Gordon

Head of Treasury Operations

Craig joined Bancorp Treasury in 2007 and specialises in treasury governance, policy, health checks and IFRS. His role is to provide specialist treasury advice and market strategies to a diverse portfolio of clients, fostering strong long-term relationships as well as undertaking one-off project work. He has extensive experience developing and reviewing treasury operations and policies and has a clear view of the intricacies of IFRS 9 and hedge accounting.

Craig’s corporate treasury skills were honed in the UK, where he was treasurer for the Commonwealth Secretariat, an intergovernmental agency spanning the 53 countries of the Commonwealth. Craig also spent several years based in Canada, working in the finance team of North America’s largest construction materials provider.

Craig has a Bachelor of Management Studies from the University of Waikato and is a member of both the Finance and Treasury Association and INFINZ (Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand).

Suresh Ranchhod

Head of Treasury Advisory

Suresh has been at Bancorp since 2006 and has over (18) years of experience within the finance and banking sectors. Suresh began his career at one of the ‘big four’ chartered accounting firms, specialising in bank client audits. This specialist banking sector knowledge led Suresh to pursue senior roles within the investment banking industry. He has held positions within internal audit, financial reporting, product control, risk management and other project functions.

Suresh has worked for major investment banks in New Zealand and the UK, where he gained valuable experience in measuring, monitoring and reporting treasury risks and financial performance. He has also resolved accounting, financial product valuation and control issues, and conducted system implementations. Suresh joined Bancorp as a Client Advisor and is now the Head of Treasury Advisory Services, overseeing a team of advisors and analysts.

Suresh is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, INFINZ (Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand) and the FTA (Finance and Treasury Association of Australia).

Louis Hunt

Treasury Analyst

Louis joined Bancorp Treasury in 2019 and works closely with the wider treasury team, supporting advisors and maintaining core internal systems in addition to providing customer-facing support.
Louis fulfils the following roles:

  • Providing commentary for daily market publications
  • Researching and analysing financial markets to provide market backgrounds
  • Valuing derivatives to assist with client strategy reporting
  • Executing foreign exchange and interest rate derivative contracts with banking counterparties.

Louis has a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in economics and finance (Victoria University) and is a member of INFINZ (Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand).

Ross Woodfield

Treasury Analyst

Ross joined Bancorp in 2016 after holding a range of back and front office execution roles with brokers and banks in New Zealand and overseas. On a daily basis, Ross supports Bancorp advisors in client record management, as well as contributing to specific projects around modelling of cashflows, treasury-related exposures and bank fee records for larger clients. He also helps to maintain and improve client asset and derivative valuation files and the preparation of monthly benchmarks. Ross has strong analytical skills which are strongly supported by his close attention to detail and versatile ‘can do’ attitude.

Prior to joining Bancorp Treasury, Ross worked for Forsyth Barr. He then moved to the UK to join the Barclays (London) Equity Derivatives team before moving to the structured Capital Markets team where his key responsibilities included monitoring and reporting on market exposure, updating and maintaining reporting across a series of metrics and running the cashflow forecasting models for high value accounts.

Ross has a Bachelor of Commerce degree (double major Economics and Finance) from the University of Otago and is a member of INFINZ (Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand).

Peter Cavanaugh

Senior Client Advisor

Peter has extensive treasury risk management experience across a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, local authority, primary and manufacturing. Peter’s tenured banking and treasury background in public sector and infrastructure borrowing, debt management and first-hand currency risk makes him an industry-recognised subject matter expert. He joined Bancorp Treasury in 1993 and provides specialist advice to a mixed portfolio of clients.

An extensive career in banking, finance and corporate treasury means that Peter has a specialist skill-set including treasury risk management, strategic treasury management and treasury administration. He has successfully managed global debt, investment and capital markets portfolios, encompassing domestic and major international financial markets.

Peter provides ongoing treasury advice to a large cross-section of clients and contributes to one-off project work devising governance, policy control and reporting formats.

He is a Certified Treasury Professional member of the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand (INFINZ).

Nick Reeves

Client Advisor

Nick joined the Bancorp Treasury team in 2008 as a finance, cash management and international banking specialist. He provides Bancorp clients with support in foreign exchange and money market transactions and has particular expertise in money streamlining.

Nick’s strength in analysis and research across a range of treasury areas means that he plays an important role in the production of Bancorp Treasury’s market publications and is a key part of the team working across money streamlining and IFRS documentation and testing.

Prior to joining Bancorp, Nick spent three years working for the global treasury team at Environmental Resources Management (ERM) in London. While overseas, he also completed the ACT Certificate of International Cash Management (Association of Corporate Treasurers). Nick has also spent (xx) years as the Treasurer at global professional services firm, Marsh.

Nick has a Bachelor of Commerce and Post Graduate Diploma in Finance (University of Otago) and is a member of the FTA (Finance and Treasury Association).

Earl White

Executive Advisor

Throughout his career Earl has worked across both corporate treasury and banking sectors. Before his involvement in treasury advisory, Earl worked for major international banking groups in Australasia, Asia and the United States. In his most recent banking role, Earl was responsible for the management of the group’s domestic interest rate risk and he held overall remit for all foreign exchange risk and the bank’s treasury marketing unit. He also negotiated a number of global funding facilities for the bank.

As a treasury advisor, Earl has advised a number of major borrowers on funding alternatives domestically and within global capital markets. He has also advised on, and assisted in, the preparation of a number of policy and procedure protocols for the management of treasury risk for a wide range of organisations, including government entities and publicly listed companies.

At Bancorp, Earl manages a portfolio of clients with total currency and interest rate exposures in excess of $20 billion.
Earl is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a Certified Treasury Professional member of the FTA (Finance and Treasury Association, Australia) and INFINZ (Institute of Financial Professionals of New Zealand). He has a Bachelor of Business (Finance) from Massey University and a Post Graduate diploma in Finance (Auckland University).

Miles O’Connor

Over his twenty year career in treasury advisory, Miles has gained significant expertise in interbank and corporate money markets with a detailed understanding of the fixed interest markets.  Miles has held senior positions in New Zealand merchant banks and banking groups and has broad experience on the use of interest rate synthetic (or derivative instruments).In the interest rate advisory and consultancy areas, Miles acts for a wide range of borrowers and investors throughout New Zealand, with his main areas of focus being investment portfolio management in the utilities and local government sectors.  Based in Bancorp’s Christchurch office, Miles also shares responsibility for client relationships throughout the South Island.
